Hey, im Liam, the artist behind ROBOTS V DINOSAURS, a fascinating bridge between industrial design and high-concept science fiction. Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, I have carved out a niche for myself by applying real-world engineering logic to futuristic fantasy.

About RVD

From a young age I have been interested in mechanical design and engineering. I have a keen eye for function and with over a decade spent in the automotive sector I have a very good grasp of how things work, always trying to apply this thought pr to every project I do, both real and fictional.

I am a vocal advocate for manual craftsmanship and enjoy the technical labor behind the art. I view 3D modeling as a form of "digital engineering"—where the joy comes from figuring out how a spaceship's radiator or fuel line would actually fit inside the hull. For these reasons I do not use generative AI in any of my work.

Inspiration

When I was around seven years old I was introduced to Stephen Biesty’s cross-sections castle book. This started a lifetime fascination with cutaway illustrations. I was fascinated by how things work, especially aircraft. As I got older and decided to pursue design as a career myself, it was always technical art and mechanical design that guided and inspired me.

After learning my trade in London, working in publishing with some very reputable design teams at WIRED, VOgue and GQ, I finally found my way to automotive. I worked in the Volvo Group Design team before working on the agency side leading to over 10 years with cutting edge automotive practices and design tools.
