Polestar Spinner
27.08.22
I decided to take part in the 2022 Polestar Design Contest, if only to have a good prompt to make something fun. Not taking it too seriously I decided to mix it up with two of my favourite things of that moment, the Polestar Precept and the Blade Runner Spinner.
Originally I did want to add wheels but I could not find an aesthetically pleasing way of introducing them...so instead...hover mode!
One of the goals was to make a cutaway illustration , so rather than just build a vehicle as usual, this was from the ground up, powertrain, wiring, cooling systems, engines, interior and exterior. This will mean everything fits together nicely in the end. A lot of the powertrain and FLIR were created from various kitbash sets I own or have made, the rest is by me on this project.
Everything was built in Blender and rendered in Cycles 3.2.
One of the most important and fun parts of any project is excessive moodboarding and research. Typically I can spend anywhere up to a month gathering and studying references before starting a project.
In this case I spent a lot of time looking at the existing Renault rally dakar teams as well as the custom suspension and bodywork produced.
